The Life and Dramatic Works of Robert Montgomery Bird. By Clement E. Foust. New York: Knickerbocker Press, 1919. —This was Dr. Foust’s graduate thesis. Though forgotten today, as indeed nearly all the drama in English of the nineteenth century has been, the American Dr. Bird’s plays were quite successful and made piles of money for the actor Edwin Forrest.
